Overview

The DP83867 is a robust, low-power, full-featured physical layer transceiver that integrates a PMD sublayer and supports the 10BASE-Te, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Ethernet protocols. It is specifically designed to facilitate the implementation of 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LANs. This series of devices features an industrial-grade temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) and is capable of stable operation in harsh industrial environments.

Technical Features

Ultra-low latency and precise clock synchronisation

The DP83867 features ultra-low RGMII latency, with less than 90 ns in the TX direction and less than 290 ns in the RX direction, complying with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) standards. The device provides precise clock synchronisation, including 25 MHz or 125 MHz synchronisation clock outputs, and supports IEEE 1588 timestamp frame start detection, making it suitable for industrial Ethernet and communications infrastructure applications with stringent time synchronisation requirements.

Industrial-grade ESD protection

The DP83867 is optimised to provide ESD protection exceeding 8,000 V as per the IEC 61000-4-2 standard (direct contact) and complies with the EN 55011 Class B emission standard, ensuring reliable communication in industrial environments with high levels of electromagnetic interference.

Low Power Consumption and Flexible Interfaces

The device consumes only 457 mW when operating at full power (RGZ package) and supports Wake-on-LAN (WoL) packet detection to further reduce system power consumption. The DP83867 offers a variety of MAC interface options, including RGMII, SGMII, MII and GMII; I/O voltages can be configured to 3.3 V, 2.5 V or 1.8 V; it incorporates an MDI terminating resistor and supports 16 programmable RGMII delay modes. Furthermore, the device supports cable diagnostics, fast link disconnection mode and a JTAG debugging interface.
