The EVAL-LTC7890-BZ is a high-performance dual-channel synchronous buck DC/DC converter evaluation kit from Analog Devices (ADI), specifically designed to demonstrate the LTC7890 low quiescent current, high-frequency synchronous controller. This evaluation board operates stably across a wide input voltage range of 16V to 72V, generating two independent outputs: 5V and 12V, each supporting up to 10A output current. The evaluation board comes pre-populated with 100V logic-level Si FETs, configured with current sense resistors, and supports switching between three operating modes: forced continuous mode, pulse skip mode, and Burst Mode®. It serves as an ideal platform for rapid prototyping in industrial power supplies, automotive electronics, telecommunications equipment, and distributed power systems.
The LTC7890 controller is housed in a 40-pin (6mm × 6mm) side-wettable QFN package, integrating a dedicated GaN FET driver circuit while also efficiently driving logic-level silicon FETs. Design files for the evaluation board (schematic, Gerber, BOM) are available from the ADI website, enabling users to rapidly modify the design for different application requirements, such as converting to a two-phase single-output high-current mode.
